On the Results of Interlaboratory Experiments on the Determination of Benzo(a)pyrene in Soils https://doi.org/10.22184/2227-572X.2023.13.4.296.299
The methods most popular in the Russian Federation for the determination of benzo(a)pyrene in soils are considered and the results of interlaboratory experiments with their use are presented. The data obtained showed the insufficient efficiency of the procedures for extracting benzo(a)pyrene from the sample. One of the reasons for the underestimation of the results may be the loss of benzo(a)pyrene during sample preparation. To establish the correction factor, laboratories need matrix reference materials that are not available on the domestic market. The conducted interlaboratory experiment made it possible to certify a sample that can be used for intralaboratory control, assessment of the correctness of the analyzes and improvement of analysis procedures.

The methods used for the detection and identification of Pseudomonas aeruginosa (Pseudomonas aeruginosa) in various waters are considered. The main characteristics of the methods are compared, their disadvantages and advantages are given. Attention is drawn to the conflicting requirements established in different methods, the low sensitivity of methods that do not provide for sample concentration, and the need to use outdated analysis procedures, as well as nutrient media with low growth and differentiating properties. Using the methods for determining P. aeruginosa in water as an example, it is shown that the domestic methodological base for sanitary control of water quality, including compliance with the requirements for packaged water (TR EAEU 044 / 2018), needs to be modernized taking into account international experience in this field.

Bioanalytical measurements of nucleic acids are applied to the most important challenges in the food industry. The international comparability of measurements is the basis for international trade. International cooperation of metrological institutes ensures comparability of measurements including nucleic acid analysis. D. I. Mendeleyev Institute for Metrology works on creation of the state primary standard of DNA sequence copy number unit, which will allow to provide metrological traceability of nucleic acids measurement results at the national level. To meet the needs of analytical laboratories, reference materials of nucleic acid composition will be created.

Report of Professor Yakov Ivanovich Yashin Prospects for chromatography in the Russian Federation in the 21st century at the Ceremonial meeting dedicated to the 120th anniversary of the discovery of chromatography by M. S. Tsvet, was held at the Institute of Physical Chemistry of the Russian Academy of Sciences on March 24, 2023 and was dedicated to the urgent tasks of domestic chromatography and promising areas of its development. The author emphasized the need to include chromatography in the basic training programs at leading universities, to support scientific research in chromatography and to develop domestic chromatographic instrumentation.

Assessment of the Degree of Aging of Internal Insulation of Power Transformers by Methanol Content in Transformer Oil Power transformers are one of the main and expensive types of equipment for power stations and substations. Over the past two decades, there has been an aging trend in the fleet of transformer equipment all over the world [1]. Therefore, to support the reliable functioning of power transformers (PT), it is necessary to develop methods for diagnosing their condition, which will allow detecting developing damage at an early stage. In addition, of considerable interest are the indicators of aging of internal insulation to assess its residual life and the service life of the ST. A method for determining methanol in transformer oil as a marker of paper insulation aging in power transformers is proposed.

The prospects of using sulfur as a reducing agent in the processing of rare metal raw materials are shown. Variants of raw materials thiochlorination of such rare metals as niobium, tantalum, titanium, zirconium and hafnium are considered. The possibility of separation of rare metals at the stage of thiochlorination of their mineral raw materials is shown. The thermodynamics of the processes of thiochlorination and carbochlorination of rare metals oxides is compared using group IV-B elements as the example. The issues of analytical equipment for the production of rare metals using chlorine technology are considered.
