This article proposes a method for optimizing the properties of transformer oil (aromatic, paraffin, naphthenic) to stabilize the sedimentation process by mixing the oil with a synthetic ester in a certain ratio. To control changes in the properties of the oil and mixtures, accelerated aging was carried out under conditions close to real ones during the operation of insulating liquid in high-voltage transformers. During the aging process, the chemical stability of the oil, ester liquid, and their mixtures was assessed using optical methods. The stability of insulating liquids was monitored using indicators such as optical turbidity, the number of mechanical particles by fraction, contamination index and the relative content of decomposition products dissolved in liquids. It is shown that these indicators can serve as effective indicators of the process of colloid and sedimentation in a liquid dielectric at the initial stage and can be used for the purpose of preventive diagnostics of the insulation of high-voltage equipment.
