The article was written on the basis of several interviews from different years, in which Academician Yu. A. Zolotov spoke about his life path, choice of profession, scientific directions in which he worked, social and scientific activities. Recalling the important milestones of his life, Yuri Alexandrovich spoke about those who surrounded him, helped, taught, about those for whom he himself became a teacher, assistant, colleague, as well as about the main business of his life – analytical chemistry. His research interests include extraction and hybrid methods of analysis, pioneering research in ion chromatography, flow analysis methods, test methods that are widely used today in various fields, and much more.
